How do I set up IPTV on a smart TV?
Install the player from your TV's own app store — the LG Content Store on an LG, or Apps in the Smart Hub on a Samsung. Open it, then either sign in with the details we send or send us the device ID the app shows. The channel list loads within a minute or two.
-
Message us and tell us your TV
Say whether it is an LG or a Samsung and roughly what year you bought it. We reply with the player app name for your set and your login details. Model year matters, because the older the set the fewer players it can run.
-
Open your TV's app store and install the player
Search for the app name we sent. It installs like any other TV app and appears on your home row when it is done.
On LGHome button → LG Content Store → Search → [app name] → InstallOn SamsungHome button → Apps → Search (magnifier) → [app name] → Install -
Open it and see which screen you get
Players do one of two things on first launch. Some ask for a username and password — enter the ones we sent, exactly as sent, because they are case sensitive. Others show a device ID or MAC address instead and wait. If you get that screen, go to the next step.
-
If it shows a device ID, send it to us
Photograph the screen and send it on WhatsApp. We load your channel list against that ID from our side, which takes a minute. You do not need to type anything on the TV.
-
Restart the app and test it
Close the app fully and reopen it. The channel list and the guide fill over a minute or two on first launch. Open a few channels you actually watch before you close the chat with us.
One thing to know before you start. Some smart TV players ask for a small one-off activation fee, paid to the app maker rather than to us. It is separate from your plan and it is charged once for the life of the TV. We will tell you whether yours does before you install anything, so nothing surprises you.
Where is the MAC address on my TV?
Most players show the device ID on their own first screen, which is the easiest place to get it. If yours does not, the TV holds it in the network settings — and the wired and wireless MAC addresses are different, so send whichever matches how your TV connects.
| TV | Main route | If that menu is not there |
|---|---|---|
| LG (webOS) | Settings → All Settings → Support → TV Information | Settings → All Settings → Connection → Wired or Wi-Fi Connection → Advanced |
| Samsung (Tizen) | Settings → Support → About This TV | Settings → General → Network → Network Status → IP Settings |
Menu names shift a little between model years. If your screen does not match either route, send us a photo of the settings menu and we will point at the right line.
Will it work on my TV's model year?
Sets from 2019 onward work without trouble on both makes. Between 2016 and 2018 it usually works but depends on what the store still carries for that set. Older than that, the app stores no longer serve new apps and a streaming stick is the better answer.
| TV and year | System | Works? | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| LG 2019 onward | webOS 4.5 and up | Yes | Follow the guide above |
| LG 2016–2018 | webOS 3 and 4 | Usually | Ask us first — we check what the store carries for your set |
| LG 2015 and older | Netcast | No | Use a Fire TV Stick or Android box on the same TV |
| Samsung 2019 onward | Tizen | Yes | Follow the guide above |
| Samsung 2016–2018 | Tizen, earlier builds | Usually | Ask us first — some sets need the store region changed |
| Samsung 2015 and older | Orsay | No | Use a Fire TV Stick or Android box on the same TV |
If your set is too old, you have not wasted anything. A stick plugs into a spare HDMI port and runs everything the newer sets do — often more smoothly, because the TV's own processor is not doing the work. The Fire TV guide is here.
Smart TV problems and how to fix them
Smart TV faults fall into four groups: the app is not in your store region, the set is short of memory, the picture stutters because the TV's own processor is struggling, or the wifi band is wrong. The table below is the order we work through them on the chat.
| What happens | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| App is not in the store | Store region, or the set is too old for it | On Samsung, change the Smart Hub region and search again. On LG, tell us the model and we check |
| App installs then will not open | TV memory is full | Uninstall apps you never use, then unplug the TV at the wall for a minute |
| Channel list is empty | The list is still loading, or the ID is not linked yet | Give it two minutes and reopen. If it stays empty, send us the device ID again |
| Picture stutters on 4K channels | The TV's processor is doing the decoding | Try an HD version of the same channel. If it is smooth, a stick will fix the 4K |
| Freezing after 7pm | Peak congestion, or the TV is on 2.4 GHz wifi | Move to 5 GHz or plug in ethernet. Lower the buffer in the player settings |
| App disappeared after an update | A TV software update cleared sideloaded or region apps | Reinstall from the store. Your login and device ID stay valid, so nothing is lost |
| Sound but no picture, or the reverse | The TV cannot decode that stream format | Switch the player's audio output to stereo, or pick the alternative feed for that channel |
Smart TV questions people ask
The five answers below cover what comes up on smart TVs specifically: needing a box, using the TV remote, what a factory reset does, running it on two televisions, and whether the TV needs to stay on the same wifi.
Do I need a box or stick as well as the TV?
Not on a 2019 set or newer — the player runs on the TV itself. A stick only becomes worth it if your set is older, or if 4K channels stutter because the TV's processor cannot keep up.
Does my normal TV remote work with the player?
Yes. The directional pad and OK button move through the channel list as they do in any TV app. On LG the pointer remote works too, and some people find it faster for scrolling a long list.
What happens if I factory reset the TV?
The app is removed and you reinstall it from the store. Your subscription is unaffected — but if your player is linked to a device ID, tell us after the reset because the ID can change.
Can I run it on the TV and a phone at the same time?
Only on a two-device plan. On one device the stream plays in one place at a time, though you can sign in on both and switch between them.
Does the TV have to stay on the same wifi network?
No. It works on any connection with enough speed. If your player is linked to a device ID, that ID belongs to the TV rather than the network, so changing broadband provider does not break it.
